Miyeok Guk

Miyeok Guk is Korean Seaweed Beef Soup.  The flavor of this soup is incomparable!
Miyeok Guk is a very traditional soup in Korea.  Miyeok Guk helps with fertility, luck, mental awareness, clarity and is also a great breast feeding aid.  This soup has medicinal qualities.  This simple Miyeok Guk recipe needs no extra ingredients to be great tasting.
Recipe:  Heat a sauce pot over medium heat.
Add a small splash of sesame oil.
     Add 2 chopped garlic cloves.
Add about 5 ounces of very thin, wide slices of raw beef.
Add 2 pinches of sea salt.
Add a generous splash of soy sauce.
Saute for 1 minute, to flavor and marinate the beef.
Add enough light vegetable broth to make a large bowl of soup with.
Add a handful of large chopped pieces of seaweed.  (Rinsed sea salt packed seaweed is good to use in this soup.  Any good dried seaweed can be used.)
Raise the temperature to high heat.
Boil the soup for 1 minute.
Reduce the temperature to medium/medium low heat.
Let the soup simmer for 30 minutes, till the broth is full of the seaweed flavor.
Pour the soup in a bowl and serve.
The flavor of this soup is much better than the few ingredients in this soup would suggest it to be!  The iodine, sea aroma and spinach flavors of the seaweed sets off the beef flavor in a very flavorful way.  Iodine from seaweed is a great anti cancer food.  Feeling good and healthy in a short time is the benefit of eating this great Korean soup.  Yummy! ...  Shawna
